Dennis Quaid Testifies Before Congress

I'd previously written of how Dennis Quaid's newborn twins were victimized by malpractice when they received a massive overdose of heparin.

And I'd also written how he sued Baxter Healthcare over the mix up.

Today he testified before Congress. This is the most important quote:
"Like many Americans, I believed that a big problem in our country was frivolous lawsuits. But now I know that the courts are often the only path to justice."
Those who advocate tort "reform" generally have this in common: They've not been seriously hurt by someone else's negligence and never imagine it can happen to them.

Comments:
I've said it for a long time: until this idea is picked up by someone other than statisticians (too boring) and trial lawyers' groups (too partisan), it will never get anywhere. It may take a hottie like Quaid to deliver us from all this reform nonsense.

While Dennis Quaid is spending all of this time persecuting the drug manufacturers, pharmacists and medical professionals, he might think about lobbying for better, safer Nurse to patient ratios. He, living in his movie star world, has no idea whatsoever about what is really going on in these hospitals; i.e. Nurses forced to work overtime hours r/t nurse shortages. The amount of responsibilities, the stress and pressures that Nurses today are forced to endure is something that Dennis Quaid has never himself experienced. For the small amount of time he spent trying to right a "wrong" he pocketed more than 8 times the amount of money that a Nurse earns in a years' time.
He needs to educate himself as to the real reason these medical errors are happening. If medical professionals were paid the amount of money that Dennis Quaid earns for making a movie, we might not have such a shortage of Nurses, thus making hospital experiences much safer.
